inspiration needed

So I have been collecting all this amazing jewelry, broken things, odds and ends, stuff that I can eventually MAKE my own treasures from. And possibly make a profit from. The big problem: I need some SERIOUS inspiration. I love sparkly, fun, pretty, fancy, awesome things... now why can't I find the inspiration to actually construct said things!?

Simplicity

In these stressful times of midterms, drama, work and love I have been finding myself appreciating the simple things that make me happy.
  1. The view from my apartment. Even though I mostly gaze at it while sitting at my computer doing chemistry homework, it is calm and beautiful, even on the yuckiest days.
  2. My wonderful friends. True friends always come through in difficult times and I can count myself as lucky to have many beautiful friends in my life.
  3. Loving myself. Getting lost in the bullshit clouds what I think of myself, gets me down, until I realize I'm better than that.
  4. The Street Car. I love hopping on, turning up my iphone and zoning out on my way to class.
  5. My new study joint, the coffee shop 2 blocks away. Delish treats, coffee and free wi-fi.
  6. Planning my 25th (YIKES!!) birthday extravaganza! Penthouse? Check! Theme? Check! Dress? Check! Invitations/Guests? Still in the process...
  7. Time alone. Even though it comes at a cost of not having my roommate around (blah, another issue all together) I love doing what I want, having my shows on while I bust out the most complicated/boring chemical reactions ever.
  8. Being sore. I've been busting my butt at the gym the last few days (see #6) and my arms, legs and stomach are killin me! Its great!
  9. Out of town visitor. The cute boy toy returns on Monday night. I love me some good cuddle time and lots of laughs.
  10. Going to bed early. Like the grandma I am.

Escape....

This is me- a week ago in Cabo.

I want to go back.

I felt at home, at peace and free.

Now I'm home again, feeling alone, stressed and lost. I'm neither classy or fabulous at the moment.

It's time to start over. Refocus and re-prioritize .

TA DAAAA

So crappy computer+lots of working= never getting a chance to update!

New things:

I've moved to a new sweet condo with my bestfriend, living in the lap of luxury on a top Ramen and Franzia budget... it's the good life for sure!

I've been purchasing some new super fab clothing items for fall, including (minus the leather) jacket, boots, white jeans, some gorg dresses from 23rd... however I'm guessing that is just the beginning, a few staples to get me started, HAHA!

Classes start in just a few short weeks. Chemistry. Anatomy. Medical Spanish. F. M. L.

ADI & I are going to MEXICO! T-minus 5 days! WOOOOT! Single girls hitting the town in style- in CABO!

As I write this I just found FOUR dead fruit flies. In my wine glass. Nasty.

Old things:

Work is going great, still love busting my butt in the hospital, 3 days of work, 4 days off... AWESOME!

men... meh, still havent found anything worth mentioning, it'll come...

ok, slepy times

Beat it

WELL HELLOOOOOO!!!

So its been a while... a long while!

So much has happened since I last posted I don't even know where to begin! Lemmie think.

A few weeks ago I took a fun trip to LA to visit a good friend, we saw the sights, went to the turtle races, hit the bars and road beach cruisers. It was soooooooo great to see her and to get out of town for a little while! The best part was that we had all of our expenses taken care of by a particular someone... can't say who :-) but it was GREAT! We had dinner at Tony's in Malibu, saw some celebrity homes and got VIP in every bar/club we went to! LOVED IT!!! (it could have been a little sunnier though...)

***Also American Apparel was having their rummage sale and I totally stocked up! I got 3 dresses, a jacket, a t-shirt and a scarf for 55 bucks! WOOOOOOT!

After returning from Cali I had to pay the price at work for taking 6 days off... I worked 6 days straight... including three 12 hour shifts because we were so short staffed. THANK GOD that won't ever happen again! I'm switching my regular 8 hour shifts over to 12s in July so I will only have to work 3 days a week! EEK! What will I do with all those days off?? Answer: School. I have to start applying to PA programs this year... therefore I need to start busting out some A++++ in the upcoming chemistry classes. WOMP.

In the mix of the time between getting home from the fab vacay and literally working my ass off, I decided to break up with my boyfriend. All I have to say is I hope he's proud of himself. Oh, and that I hope she didn't give him any 'going away presents'- if you know what I mean. Its called a breakup because its broken! Being the dumper is an empowering feeling, I've never felt stronger and more happy for being ME, because I deserve better. OBVIOUSLY!!!

RIP MJ... My unofficial Michael Jackson dance group will be making scheduling a reunion in memory of our favorite artist to dance/drink/live to... MDMJ forever!

Lazy Tuesday

I love random days off- I get to catch up on my blog reading, hang out with the cats, do laundry, etc. Today there was actually a reason to not have work though, I had my annual dentist appointment! I've always liked the dentist, probably because I've never had a cavity, braces, or anything painful related to that particular part of my body. Todays appointment was no different, typical cleaning and glowing reviews (besides the fact they tell everyone to floss more, womp), but after my cleaning I asked the doctor about getting a orthodontist consultation. YIKES!

Who gets braces when they are 24?

Maybe me.

My appointment for the consultation is in July so we shall see what she has to say about my teeth! I figure I should do it now or never since I have a job, income, and I'm not off to PA school where I want to be taken seriously and not have a mouth full of metal. I'm excited/nervous what the doc will say! My teeth aren't too bad, so I'm hoping for a realllllly short time frame!!

Moment of zen: waking up Sunday morning, seeing my cute kitty Bellini with sleep in his eyes too, just hanging out in the soft Sunday morning sunlight :-)

welcome the poor house

I survived my first weekend on the job alone! YAY! It was great Saturday, pretty busy, lots of running around, but manageable. Sunday I got to the floor and the other CNA scheduled to be there didn't show up, meaning I would have 20 patients instead of 10 to care for. Thank god the nurses were super helpful and helped me manage the crazyness until the other replacement showed up to help. It was an excitinig weekend, I still love it and also enjoyed my random Monday off. I love watching day time TV once in a while!

Down side: I'm getting paid peanuts compared to my last job. The price I pay to get patient care hours, oh and to have a job I actually enjoy! Maybe I can find a part time job to supliment my income back to the level it was... W.O.M.P.

In kitty news: I spent the day at home with the babies, listening to their jingeling as they run up and down the stairs, playing and wrestling the day away. Fancy continues to be my little princess, the other night I showered and was brushing my hair in the mirror, I looked down to see my little kitty cleaning her face right behind me on the floor. So precious! I took a picture:Ignore my strange tree trunk looking legs in this picture (and I am wearing a robe... I mistakenly put it in the dryer last time I washed it, and now its shorter than ever, haha), but little Fancy is so cute primping behind me, it melts my heart.

Since now I am in desperate need to save money I plan on heading to my parents for dinner, taking as much of their food as I can, and living of that for the week. Its a great plan.

Friday/Sunday

My weekend, which is this week happened to be Thursday and Friday, was very productive! I accomplished all my typical weekend tasks but with out all the other people in Portland! I got a great parking spot at Trader Joe's AND all the items on my list were actually in stock! I had to hit Freddies to get kitty litter for my little poopers, and Ramen for those lazy evenings and hung over mornings. While in the Ramen aisle I snapped a picture of a rare bag of Shrimp Flavored Ramen for Stacey, since I don't know I've seen a package since the adventures in Bend. Apparently I was distracted right after because this picture was also on my phone, kinda cracked me up that I am wearing cute shiny shoes in the Ramen aisle, and end up purchasing cat litter that I kick down the pet aisle because it weights 27lbs.
The whole situation just screams classy lady.

Back to work tomorrow... my first weekend on the floor, and my first days alone! EEK!

Unexpected

The new job has given me a sense of unexpected delight. I finally feel like I have a purpose when I go to work and I know I'm making a difference in someones life every minute of the day. Though the work is back breaking at times, when I leave work I feel fulfilled. Yesterday I discharged a woman who had been in my unit all week, recovering from surgery. I wheeled her out to her husbands car and she hugged me with the warmest sincerity and thanked me for making her time in the hospital tolerable and even pleasant. I thought that was so sweet it kept me going for the rest of the day! The difference between 8 hours at the old job and the new job are night and day. I still see some familiar faces because I still work in organ transplant, the surgeons look at me twice and finally piece it together that I've changed job titles and are happy to see me around the hospital.

Once I past the first road block of waking up in the morning, I have a sense of excitement instead of dread for work. I've even road my bike a few times last week! ME! If I'm on the road by 6:25am, I can get to the tram in perfect timing to lock up my bike, catch my breath and take the short ride up the hill. Best commute to work- EVER!

I feel that I belong. I'm happy, I love getting to talk to and meet crazy patients every day, I love watching them get better, and I love watching them leave the hospital with a smile and a ton of medical supplies from our floor. I will not be doing this line of work forever, I plan on moving up the ranks, but right now I'm happy.

(smile)

CHANGE!

Job Update: The new job is awesome! After my first day I already had stories about crazy patients and had learned/practiced many skills. HOWEVER, Tuesday I had classroom training, which was 8 hours of power point presentations on a variety of subjects. Boring subjects. I'm waiting to get back to my unit because this classroom stuff is C R A P! I have classroom training until Friday at noon when I get to go back to the unit and work for a few hours!

Monday was so rough on my body. My feet hurt, my legs were sore and my head was spinning... so I took a nice nap when I got home... What a HUGE difference from sitting on my ass for 8 hours a day to hiking up and down the hall, lifiting, moving and assisting patients allllll day. However, I LOVED being mentally stimulated and interacting with patients, even though it is thankless hard work. My coworkers were great and they even seem semi-normal thus far! They have people/social skills, which is a HUGE change. I love it!

Other News: I called my baby kitty (Fancy Pants Nunez) by my old baby kitties name. Got a little misty eyed for my Cookie cat. She was my fabulous feline, who snored loud, had sharp talons, loved 'cookie' treats, had spots on her belly, loved having people food, and always came running when I came to visit. :*-( its like losing a family member.

Once I get into the swing of things I want to pick up the Bikram yoga again.. I'm fucking paying for it but have been too busy/lazy/sick to go. WOMP. I can't wait to start up again, its the best thing I have ever done for myself! AND I want to lose a few pounds... eating crap is starting to catch up and its almost swim suit season!!! (WHAT WAS I THINKING) FML!!

I'm definatly missing FBing all day at work. I feel totally disconnected without constant internet access!!! I'm behind on my blog reading, sample sale shopping, gossip pages, fb picture/profile viewing... its so hard to fit it all in when I can't get my paws on a real computer all day! The worst part of all... my unit is in the middle of the hospital so it is a black hole of internet access/cell phone reception so I have to travel to access my busy email inbox, check messages and make phone calls! What a hassle! (haha I was soooo spoiled before with the easiest/shittyest job ever)

OK I'm done... I think...

roller coaster weekend.

It has been a turbulent few days.

Thursday: Last day at the job I hate! Happiest day in a while! The bf even came up to visit and took me to dinner with delicious margaritas, with an encore of some yummy wine with friends later in the evening! Such a great feeling! Freedom!!!!!!!!

Friday: Worst. Day. Ever. My mom called me in the morning. 8:30am. On a day she knew I was taking as vacation. Left a voice mail. She sounded strange. I called her back an hour later once I woke up. My 13 year old kitty suddenly died. She was my kitty, my baby, and I am heart broken. I spent all day Friday crying and waiting for my sister to get back from school to put our little kitty to rest in the back yard. :*-( still emotional. I miss my Cookie cat. She was the most fabulous kitty ever. Saturday: Tried to feel better, went back to my parents house to prep for a garage sale my aunt is having next weekend. For the first time ever I want to have more junk to sell... I would love some extra $$$ in my empty pockets!!!! Still sad, mopey and looking for my Cook-Cook around the house to come nap on my lap. Womp.

Sunday: EASTER!!! Went BACK over to my parents to celebrate the holiday with lots of food, friends and family. I took enough leftovers to last me the rest of the week! SCORE!

So I'm starting to feel better, but even writing this post, I got teary eyed. I miss her. I loved that fur ball. Now I will go smother my 2 kitties to make me feel a little better.

I have to pull it together by tomorrow... I start my NEW job! What scrubs should I wear for my first day???

ACK! Internet Shopping!

Hayden-Harnett have you shipped my AWESOME sample sale items yet?! I'm getting excited, and tired of waiting!!!

ModCloth where is the necklace I ordered A MONTH AGO!?! If it doesn't arrive today I am calling them and demanding I get it for free. I already got free shipping on it and a discount since they "lost my order" for 2 weeks... but come on, that was probably 2 weeks ago!!!

Kate Spade... why do you tempt me with 30% off all handbags (promo code EASTER09)?!?!?!? I can't afford that on my new, lower, salary!!!

Banana Republic/Gap/Old Navy- WTF is up with the 30% off new arrivals?!

I need to make more money. In order to spend more money.

LAST DAY!

Today is my last day in the office. YES!

More updates to follow... the plans for the day include a potluck brunch in my honor, me bs-ing around the office/lab for 7 more hours, and finally me leaving this damn place in my dust as I drive away for the last time! What a great day! Too bad it isn't sunny. Or warm. Oh well, one good thing at a time is all my brain can handle at the moment!

YAY! Freedom!
Now I want to go to New York and lay out in BK. WHITE SHORTSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! (must save some $$ and vacay time first. Damnit.) I will have to settle for fab trips to Eugene, and once the new work schedule is all worked out, I hope it will be sooner than later!

All things Easter

On my daily blog reading (a list that is growing fast) I came across this post at it just warmed my heart. Not only do I LOVE the idea of Easter bonnets, but I LOVE cute old people. This being the first Easter and second holiday with out my Grandad, the fam has kinda given up on celebrating. Which has pros and cons. Pro: We don't have to deal with the ONE crazy/freaky part of the family. Con: I still wanna hunt for Easter eggs filled with lottery tickets and cash.

It was proposed by some family member that we gather and at least have a Easter feast. Which I am 120% supportive of.

If you know me, you know that I am not religious at all, neither is my family. Never have been, never will be, and I love it and would never change a thing (thats another post allll together). Holidays like Easter, Flag Day, Groundhogs Day, etc are just excelent excuses to get together, drink wine and eat lots of really yummy food. This year there will be no egg hunt or pastel decorations, just bright spring flowers from the yard and red wine flowing from the kitchen/dining room/living room/backyard, YAY!

Now comes the part where I want to wear a freakin Easter bonnet. I found these great images of springy hats of years past. Vintage of course. So fabulous.Obsessed with those buttons.Where do I get some cute gloves?

Should I wear my Sunday best (haha i dont even know what that means) to Easter? Hat and all? I'm sure I have something awesomely vintage I could pull together for this semi-special occasion!

Sample Sales

Newest obsession: Sample Sales

I just went to the hayden-harnett website (a typical weekly visit) and bought some cute stuff for a SUPER DEAL! I'll just say that I saved $150... I have a shopping problem.

One super deal I got was this adorb sunglasses case, since I always have HUGE glasses I never have a case/duffel bag to protect them when in my purse!
So springy and cute, I couldn't resist. And the best part? It was 10 bucks. What a deal!

Weekend plans? I am going to weed my yard and finish planting my flower seeds, since it might actually be nice! and warm! maybe a bike ride is in the works... I need to figure out my new commute to work after all!! YAY!!

Fortunate.

As promised I found my magical fortunes from Papaya Thai.

The first I got on February 26th (my dad's birthday) and it read:

"Don't give up.
Your problem gets better next month."

(I'm disappointed this didn't turn out better...
cell phone camera is not up to par with my artistic visions.)

This small piece of paper alone gave me hope for future employment and my ticket out of my hellish job. 3 days later I got a call for a job interview. 5 days after that I got another job interview. One month later, I have a job offer and one week left of the job I hate! Best. Cookie. Ever.

Flash forward to March 31: I am over my sickness and in the exciting position to go scrub shopping. I pick out 5 (as awesome as possible) tops and 3 pairs of pants (long, flare & pajamaie) and am very pleased with my 20% off my non sale items. spending about $150, worth every penny! My mom came with me for moral support and to tell me when the scrub top made me look pregnant. VOM. After the shopping trip, we were craving some dinner so we went to our favorite thai place to get some spicy pad thai goodness. After my filling meal I opened my fortune cookie, it read:

"Life is a series of choices.
Today yours are good ones."
(Again, disappointed this didn't turn out better...)

Needless to say, I am very pleased. I also got my new car Tuesday... *insert happy dance here* Time to make a new car mix... since now I have a CD player, hello 2009!

April Fools'

If I were more creative I would have thought of something realllllly shocking to post for April Fools'. But I'm not. Instead I will post funny/cute/random pictures I have taken with my phone in the last week! Its been a long week, including a death bed experience with the worst cold/virus of all time, getting a new job, quitting old job, and spending way too much time at home watching daytime television.

I'll begin with the day I quit- aka the best day of my life

I got a ride to work that morning, typical Thursday transportation, but this was also the day I needed to resign and put my 2 weeks in. I did some work (which turns out I was delirious and when I was healthy again my sick work made zero sense) and waited for my boss to get into the office/lab. I told her I hate this job and told her where to stick it. J/K I only dream those things. I told her I got a new job, was quitting, and immediately left on the bus to go die a slow death by pain in my throat. Apparently the 43 is empty at 11:45 am. It was a silent private bus ride, which was exactly what I needed.

Next is my nurse kitty, she cuddled constantly while I was home sick. I don't know if she was doing this because she knew I felt like H E L L or if she liked me because I was burning up, making a much warmer lap than usual.

I don't care why she did it because look at that damn face. Fancy Face :-)

Then once the rooms got home I tried to be social and watch American Idol/Intervention/Hills/Dancing with the Stars/etc. The boy animals came out to play. They are boyfriends.

Packer just sat on Bellini, and what this picture doesn't capture is when Bellini was biting his back to free himself, it was so cute and hilarious. I was sick and on many drugs, so its possible it wasn't that funny, but at the time I hacked with delight!

So near the end of my illness, I was finally able to eat solid food, which was GREAT since I was a) starving and b) pissed my food would spoil in the fridge. I saw my asparagus and thought HELL to the YEAH, and I sprinkled some olive oil on it, salt and pepper, popped it in the oven and waited. It was delicious!

I'm drooling again. I need to buy more at Zupans tonight...

One week from tomorrow I will be the happiest girl alive. No more 40 hour weeks in hell. No more fb chat, no more listening to the bodily functions of the large woman in the corner. YES YES YES YES!

And to think that a new job was just a glimmer in my eye last month... It all began with an amazing fortune cookie. I need to find that thing. I got another fortune last night from the same Thai place... I'll post it tomorrow, because it is equally as perfect and magical!

ADIOS!

I need to get my head checked

I have been honestly contemplating moving home with my parents after my lease is up. My pro/con list has flip-flopped so much its making my head spin... but the pros are starting to come through, mostly in the form of dollar signs. Dollar signs in my bank account.

Pros
  • free food
  • free-ish rent (this apparently is pending, wtf mom)
  • free good wine
  • free internet/bills
  • free netflix
  • free cat food/litter
  • 2 more kitties <3
  • laundry service
  • neighbors need a babysitter often... extra $$
  • yoga studio 2 blocks away
  • clean roommates
  • saving tons of cash for future rent in grad school city.... huge pro
Cons
  • no cable
  • no privacy
  • my old room. womp.
  • smallest closet of all time
  • parents allll the time
  • nagging
  • longer commute to work
  • needless & annoying questions
  • I'm freakin 24
  • I like my freedom and alone time
is this really happening? am I actually considering this!? I need a CAT scan, MRI... brain transplant.

I have until July, I'll just wait for a better offer to arise. Crossing my fingers, now.

the itch

I need something new and fabulous in my life.

New job- Check!

That's not completely cutting it. Its time to move, though that will probably not happen for another YEAR, I'm already mentally packing, checking out apartments on craigslist and preparing to haul my wardrobe across the country. Womp.

It would also be helpful to win the lottery/find a sugar daddy. So once I get to New York I can have some fun!

Accepting sugar daddy applications now. Gay men looking to spoil a fun girl with all the gossip, please apply.

Maybe I'll meet a handsome doctor type at my new job (one week from FRIDAY! YAY!) who will be completely dedicated to their job, just looking to make some poor CNA happy by paying rent on a fab apartment. and he isn't interested in the physical relationship, since Blaine would frown on that hahaha

Friday, March 27, 2009

wtf throat

So I've been in bed for the last 3 days. Taking pulls of Nyquil and napping endlessly with my kitties. I still feel like C. R. A. P.

So I went to the doctor today. Only to spend $25 on my co-pay and them to tell me it wasn't strep. DUH, I knew that, I was hoping for some extra strength numbing cough syrup. Nothing. Billshit.

Upside: I did muster up enough energy to quit my job yesterday! yay! April 9th at 4:30 I'm free from that hell forever!

Downside: I start my new job on Friday the 10th. WOMP no time to celebrate.

Either way, I need to get healthy like RIGHT NOW so I can enjoy my Saturday drinking beer while watching my Ducks kill some smelly Beavers at Baseball in PGE park! I'm crossing my fingers.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

WOOOOT!!!

I GOT THE TRANSPLANT/ABDOMINAL SURGERY/PLASTICS JOB!!!!

Putting in my 2 weeks tomorrow :-)

Too bad I stayed home sick from work today otherwise I would have done it the second it was official I got the job!!!

YAY!!

Flower Power

Spring has sprung. But only in the form of these precious daffodils from my parents yard. I had to take 2 bokays because fresh flowers just make me happy. I spent 2 hours on Saturday weeding my front yard/strip of dirt to plant some wildflower seeds I got, I'm still sore and I can't wait to have cute little springy colors covering my yard! Seriously, I haven't been this sore in a long time, gardening is a great workout for the ass, inner thigh and lower back, its been days and I still can't move with out an ache!

Rain, rain, go away....

I can't wait for summer! (since we all know spring is still too rainy)

How to make a grown woman cry.

So I dress myself for work, not particularly nice, but about 19286956872583579238749625 times nicer than everyone else who works here. I like looking nice, being slightly fashionable (I dont want to waste anything too good on these people) and not wearing the same 4 shirts all week.

Through this job search bullshit I didn't forget the detail of what I will be required to wear, but I didn't put that much thought to it.

If you have ever warn scrubs you know how incredibly sexy, fashionable and form fitting they are. vom. So my plan of action: get cute scrubs so you don't look like a bloated blueberry everyday. This is what I've found so far... these were under FASHION TOPS...

This isn't TOOOO BAD compared to the square tops (which i have 2 of already), but in NO WAY is it good. I'm going to stick with solids. and with those that match my purple stethoscope.

I'm fashioning a noose out of my computer cords right now. 5 days a week, 7-3:30.

However my hope is to still rise above coworkers in scrub style (is that an oxymoron?) , since they probably go to WM to get the discount devil scrubs that are a square with arm holes and rectangle cut in half for pants. Paying extra is worth it if I can have a waist. and boobs. and pants that are the right fucking legenth- which is SO important- otherwise the crotch is at your knees to keep the pants just at the top of the sexy nursing shoe.

Welcome to the GLAMEROUS LIFE of a certified nursing slave.

Reminder: Never order anything in unisex. it will be ugly and fit nothing. aka elastic waist scrub pants..... ugh, its a damn good thing these things are the most comfortable uniform ever!

Living Situations

Even though my lease isn't up until July, I feel that it will sneak up on me and I will be left with my stuff in a pile in front of my house, cats doing back flips in their kennel and me on the phone with my mom saying I have to move back in. god no.

that said, the new (still potential job- FUCKING CALL ME PLEASE) job pays less, much less, than my current crap job in HELL, but I need to take that plunge. I don't want to move home because I might kill my parents for getting all up in my business... after I've been free for over a year and a half i can't go back... but I would save mega money. UGH!

Ideal situation: find a place to live (that isn't total shit) for about $400-$450 a month... which is nothing... on the west side, close to work and school.

I need a sugar daddy.

LOVES IT!!!

Lady Gaga... does it get any better!!!

Ob-FREAKIN'-sessed!

you better believe I'm using some of these dance moves at Taylors...

Finals

Finals suck... Womp...

Crossing my fingers I'm ready for tomorrow's microbiology final...

I'm also PRAYING I can pull it together to write my 10 page research proposal about altruistic kidney donation. WHAT was I thinking.

I can't wait for Wednesday, the term will be over and I will again be hopeful about the year ahead... the job offers need to keep pouring in! I'm still crossing my fingers for my dream position at the hospital... BAH and I need to do my taxes! The busy life of an 'adult' never ends.

When will I have a moment to kick back with my kitties and drink a glass of wine guilt free? WHEN!?

playing make believe

While the cold I have avoided all winter finally started to pull me under into a potentially sickly and incredibly unproductive weekend, I realized it was sunny today. Spring sunny. HURRAY! Then I remembered that my FAVORITE side job is right around the corner, modeling in Joe Bussink workshops. Besides being one of the warmest and friendly men on earth, he is an amazingly talented photographer of the stars. Some of my personal favorites are Christina Applegate, Fred Savage, Christina Aguilera, Rebecca Romijn & Jerry O'Connell and Jenny McCarthy. His style of photography is so great, its no wonder why established photographers pay a pretty penny to come spend just a few days with him in Sandy, OR.

Here are a few examples of what Joe's workshops acheive. He teaches about shooting in the moment... What I've learned is that some moments of me are not-so-cute... haha but I do like these:
I can't wait for another few days of princess dresses, cowboy boots and probably a little rain <3

Being a girly girl once in a while is great after spending a lot of time being a 'dude girl' the rest of the time.

5 tips

Five tips for a woman....

1. It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job.

2. It is important that a man makes you laugh.

3. It is important to find a man you can count on! And doesn't lie to you.

4. It is important that a man loves you and spoils you.

5. It is important that these four men don't know each other.

a letter to the people who annoy me.

Dear coworker/random dude on the street/class mate/etc.,

Stop trying to fuck up everything and please stop pissing me off.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Kristina

PS when you talk to yourself out loud, no one cares, and when you fart, everyone is disgusted.

from crazy to insane.

job offer #1 good to go.
job offer #2 complicated by internal bull shit because of the hiring freeze.

question of the day: do I take door #1 now, or wait a week to see if door #2 officially opens for me?

#2 is what i want to do. surgical awesomeness.

Fun Fun Fun in the Sun Sun Sun

Can you hear that? It's California is calling my name.

Sun.

Surf.

Sand.

June will include a fun, relaxing and long weekend in Santa Monica with some pals :-)

Rollerblading, bike riding and surfing. I'm so flippin' EXCITED!

Next step... Picking a date and buying tickets... minor details

Now to plan a quick trip to Vegas in August. Get some free drink, fab tans and endless VIP passes <3 Who's in?!

pure, unabashed excitement!!!

By now I should know that everything happens for a reason, however every time something happens and confirms this for me I acknowledge it and seem to forget shortly thereafter.

So once again, I am astounded how the world works. In confusing, dramatic, and sometimes annoying ways everything eventually falls into place. My newest example: I GOT A JOB OFFER!!! Putting in time at a job that makes me miserable, so incredibly depressed and just going through the motions for the last 9 months, has finally paid off!

If I were more impulsive I would have quit this stupid job months ago, but my rational brain (and parents, oh and my shopping habits) figured it would be best to get another job before hitting the poor house. However, due to the current economic bullshit, I've been applying for jobs since NOVEMBER, and just got my first interview last week. Patience, patience, patience.

Here comes the ironic part: Job offer #1 in Adult Oncology, brand new unit in OHSU, state of the art, beautiful views, all the things a hospital should be for those chronically ill. Despite all this, cancer isn't really my cup of tea. The strangest part... I knew the woman who interviewed me, since I was probably 3 years old. We didn't realize this until we saw each other and it was like some freaky Friday deja vu. So going into that unit would be great, having a familar face from the start, but she also knows my mom. I don't need my job performcance relayed to my parents... no thanks!

Job offer #2 is expected later today, the nurse from job #1 basically told me it was my choice since they discussed me and just want me to succeed- I love the medical field :-) This job is in transplant, abdominal surgery and plastics. It isn't a glamorus new unit, but it is a field of medicine I am extremely interested. From currently working in transplant medicine (Transplant medicine, this is Kristina... blah blah blah...) in a boring desk position, to the transition to of patient care and the exact opposite end of the transplant process, I'm actually thrilled to have an actual impact, see the people I send things to, do paper work for, type medical reports on!!! FINALLY!

Coolest part? I will get to ride the tram every day! I need to get more scrubs, since the ones I have are total crap, and I'm soooo excited not to have to deal with the idiots I am forced to deal with everyday! WOOOO HOOOOO!!!

Offically putting my 2 weeks in... TOMORROW!

I finally see the light!!!

optimism

I finally feel a optimistic. Its been a while, considering crappy weather, classes wearing me down, work ruining my life, etc, I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
  • Actually getting a job interview at an amazing place will lift my spirits any day, hence my happiness on Friday and my hopeful attitude this weekend and in the following week! Still crossing my fingers!
  • Week 9 is here, projects are finally being started and completed and finally checked off my To Do list... yay crunch time! I'm soooo over this term.
  • America's Next Top Model starts this week... even though I'll be in class giving an awesome oral presentation on MRSA... I freakin LOVE that show! Too bad Tyra is a crazy biotch.
  • I haven't seen any sign of rodents in my house for almost a week! YAY! My problem solving skills strike again!
  • The man boy is good, things are good, life is good... and spring is right around the corner!
I'm so happy to be back to normal, being sad, annoyed with life and generally pessimistic is not my normal demeanor. Now if I can only find the time to go to yoga in the next week before the next binge drinking episode I would be as happy as a clam!

Weekend Plans

Pray I get laid off.

I am 100000000000000000% serious

so I can do this... and mean every ounce of it!

I would rather eat out of the trash and wear potato sacks than work here another minute.

are we there yet?

nope. not going to be there for a LONG ass time.
I just had the crippling realization I will(probably) be taking chemistry everyday this summer.
FML.

I have a major check list to start:
  1. finish microbio with a semi decent grade.
  2. ace technical report writing.
  3. figure out what other bullshit classes I need to take next term.
  4. see an adviser (hopefully the PSU advisers are slightly more helpful than the UO advisers.)
  5. continue filling out my CASPA application. its taking f.o.r.e.v.e.r....
  6. make some serious decisions on WHERE to apply... since it will cost me a pretty penny for each.
  7. take a full year of chemistry in 3 months.
  8. get 2000 clinical hours- MUST get a new job.
  9. do all of this before October 2009.
  10. try not to kill self/get xanax in tic-tac form.
seriously, why didn't anyone tell me that a undergraduate degree doesn't mean SHIT in the real world. WHY!!!!!

I need a drink.

no I don't... my head is still spinning from the too much fun I had in Eugene this weekend :-)

A break from the norm

So this week is fashion week in my favorite city. I was there in the fall for fashion week, but unforch didn't get to catch any shows *tear* but saw copious amounts of tall long lean bitches all over the island. In honor of fashion week I have been (procrastinating on the other 109236178538097264 things I need to do) looking at the latest- I can't call them trends/styles, um lets say concepts. Beginning with the most ridiculous, i mean, practical -->

imagine a fashionista in NYC wearing this. I'm not sure it inspires me in the way some of the typically unusual fashion week items do. I love getting crazy dressed up, but my guess that bedazled rabbit mask wasn't found at the dollar tree....

However THIS is glorious!
It reminds me of the classic, sophicated, chic styles of decades past. VINTAGE INSPIRED. I want it all. Especially the giant flower. It may be simple, but I think its great.

These are more 'wild' at least in the semi-practical-might-actually-see-someone-wear it kind of way... the one on the right... L O V E

Valentines Day Vino Adventure

Valentines Day was awesome, traveling the Dundee Hills to 4 different wineries to drink some very delicious wine! And sample some very delicious cheese. I'm serious, the cheese was amazing! It was a gorgeous day in Oregon (despite the snow that we woke up to), a fun day with my man (and his sister and her bf) and an over all successfully romantic and fun Valentine's day <3

THEN I come to work today... browse my typical sites as I do everyday and of course had to look at PostSecret because DUH new ones get put up on Sundays! So I am reading my guidlty pleasure, and of course its all V-day themed... and I see this:

and now I'm suddenly depressed.

Its not that I want to get married (now or even in the far distant future)
I don't think its the fact that I'm freaking 24 and not 19

It might be that I'm so cynical now that I don't believe that exists, which is fucking sad.

a depressing snapshot

this. is. my. life.

things to notice:
  1. my discover magazine. could be replaced with Self, Cosmo, etc. any day of the week.
  2. smart water and viso... product placement at its best. Staying hydrated and AWAKE are #1 at work.
  3. bamboo, my only zen.
  4. on the computer screens... screen 1: technical report writing homework, screen 1: facebook. standard. I need a third to fit my work in, that would be awesome.
  5. headphones. listening to radio, NBC.com, pandora...
  6. on the shelf: Microbiology book, for fun reading book (Skinny Dip, loves it), a few work things...
  7. BIOMEDICAL MATERIAL tubes... actually a large part of my job... the blood tubes are just a little further to the right. (Actual DDRT paperwork to the left too, clearly thats not what I'm working on!)
  8. all pictures on wall are printed on the color printer at work...
  9. 99.9% of the time my phone is on the mouse pad.
  10. the dingy light is really maginified in this picture. Fluorescent light is horrible for my eyes/hair/complexion/mood. BOO.

goal for 2009

return to New York.

and do the exact same thing we did in Brooklyn, party hard all night, get the same delicious handmade bagels, coffee in the bag... take a taxi to Tiffany's.

I almost had my Audrey moment last fall, but instead of Tiffany's it was the the Manhattan bridge, it was still great, but not nearly as glam as I have imagined it could be.

I WILL DO THIS. but look 1/1982608562 as glam as she did.

Hopefully I can also accomplish a task of looking at PA masters programs. Just so I can say that's what I am accomplishing while in my favorite city in the world (as of yet) so I can finally move/live where I belong.

do something noble this year.

Lately, most likely because I hate my job, despite how much potential it had to be a cool job and maybe make a huge difference in a persons life, I've been trying to get a real job in a hospital to directly talk to, see, treat and help patients. In the last few weeks at work the new woman (thank god a voice of reason in this place) has been preparing a new system with the bone marrow transplant department. This reminded me that I signed up to become a bone marrow donor just about 2.5 years ago. Still no word on a match, but I still think its something ANYONE could do. Why not increase your karma and donate something that you will replenish to someone who is really sick?
this is an attempt to continue the new years resolutions, by increase my karma (yeah, this one is the same as last year), why not do the same for others!

Obsessions

My top 10 current obsessions:
  1. anything vintage (my new sheath dress from the estate sale, I must find a cute simple slip to wear under it before spring!)
  2. bikram yoga- nothing like sweating off 900+ calories in 90 minutes!
  3. craigslist job listings/OHSU job listings/ANY job listings.
  4. online shopping (really bad right now since bikram is draining my bank account!)
  5. reading fashion blogs. I'm totally obsessed.
  6. of course the Obama inauguration... cutest family ever, and I don't ever remember respecting a president before. Love them.
  7. LOLcats.
  8. Jake and Amir... why did you do this to me Rachel!
  9. 30 Rock- for obvious reasons! Hilarity ensues!
  10. being a (almost) SKINNY BITCH!!!Keeping to my vegetarian/vegan/pescetarian diet and lifestyle for over a year! (pretty much making my own diet out of the 3 lifestyles haha)
my moment of zen: Thrusday is sushi day.

something new

Entering the blogger world. Its like posting back in the day on livejournal, only chicer and less juvenile, at least in my situation.

Why the hell not, I already do a lot of nothing at work as it is, why not add this to the list, at least this is semi productive, kinda...

I'll finish this post with my favorite moment of the day: Right now, when the office is empty of disgusting sounds. ahhhhhhhhhhh, so nice :-)
